If the GPS lock is lost, have the car lock back onto the GPS signal quickly.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
When you are leaving a ferry the navigation takes about 30 min to discover your new position. Given the navigation is a key function (supercharge stops, nav on autopilot, etc.) the car should discover the new position sooner (max 3-5 min) or there could be a “GPS reset” button in the navigation settings.
Moderator: This could be a problem with one specific car. We’ve never seen the issue with tunnels, which also lose GPS lock. Perhaps others can chime in and state the car S/X/3/Y and year.

When in reverse the side mirrors currently have a single default position. Offer the ability to set and move the mirrors based on GPS location.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
I want my car to recognize that I always want my mirrors set the same certain way when I am backing into my home parking space. Offer an option to automatically set the mirrors that way when I shift into reverse at my home parking space, without regard to how I might have set the backup mirrors elsewhere.

Description
Offer the option to only turn on Sentry mode at select GPS locations, perhaps with a 500 foot radius.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
Sentry Mode is a great feature and the ability to leave it on all the time could be very useful for some. However since battery drain can become a huge problem we have to be careful with using it that way.
It’s very helpful that we’re able to enter locations where we can make sure that Sentry Mode is kept off. But how about taking it a step further by also allowing us to keep it off by default and allowing us to create a list of locations where we would like it to automatically turn itself on. Kind of a mirror image of the way the feature currently works. If you visit only one or two places where Sentry Mode is necessary the battery issue doesn’t become a problem.
I go to a health club where occasionally there is vandalism in the parking lot. There are also more than a few careless drivers who do mostly minor, but sometimes worse, damage with their vehicles and then skip off without leaving a note. It’s an aggravating situation that might correct itself if one of the guilty parties were caught in the act, and found themselves starring in a YouTube video or two.
I think this would also be helpful in making it more difficult to leave Sentry Mode on accidentally, something I did recently when parking in a friend’s garage for five days, while I left town. The result was a very low battery when I returned. Luckily I had just enough juice to get to a local Supercharger. If it was winter time I’d have really been in trouble!

Have a means to signal Tesla that the GPS indicated speed limit is wrong for a section of road so that with enough crowdsourced input, the database can be corrected.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
Sometimes the GPS based speed limits are wrong and the autopilot may trigger a slow down for a false speed limit, or be set too high in a radar zone, or be wrong in a work in progress place. For example :
This would be great to have a feedback ability in the car, just like in the waze app to signal impossible routes, and wrong speed limit without having to wait for the cameras to be able to take care of what it reads. We can currently let voice commanded notes about that, (start a command with “note” or “bug report” and say your feedback) but it doesn’t look like it is put into the system.
Google maps and waze look like they have better speed limits data records. Openstreetmaps are taking an enormous advantage of crowdsourced feedback, Tesla should also use this power.

Autopilot (AP1 & AP2) in Europe (and Asia?) should change speed according to GPS speed sign database and not road speed signs.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
In AP1 the camera can read the speed signs and show on the display. In AP2, while the car is showing GPS data for speed limit on the screen, in Europe, Autopilot does not change speed according to this data. Use GPS based speed limit data to change speed when on Autopilot instead of reading speed signs (AP1) unless the driver manually changes the speed setting.
Moderator: It’s been noted that some GPS database speed limit signs are way off the actual speed. AP2 in North America already adjusts speed based on the GPS speed database.

Allow charge limit (percent charge level) to be set based on location, like the charge current can now be set.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
My work location provides free charging so I would like to set the charge limit to 90% when parked at work. At home I would like to charge to 50% (or even 30-40% if possible) to save the expense. I do this now using the app but would really like it to be automated.

When you move the map manually, after a set time, automatically resume the last North-Up or Headings Up setting to re-sync the map to your current location.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
Sometimes we must touch the map screen to look around. The main GPS map does not switch back automatically to the North-Up or Headings Up mode, which is annoying.

The sound options should have a choice to lower the music volume when the GPS has something to say and bring it back to previous volume after that.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
Most phones with GPS already do this.
Right now, the two sound are overlaid, and the only thing we can do is turn the volume during the time the gps talks, so the car gets we set the volume for the gps voice. which is not practical at all.

Have the vehicle remember where the climate control air flow is manually switched from auto to recirculation. In the future when within 3 miles of that location, turn on recirculation until the vehicle moves out of the 3-mile radius area.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
Some locations are rife with bad odors. These may be farm animals, industrial pollutants, sewage treatment or other foul odors.
A bonus feature would to have vehicles share geofenced ‘bad odor’ locations, perhaps when 5 or more different vehicles trigger the recirculation in the same location.

Description
I occasionally drive for Uber and staring at the little screen on my phone while the big screen shows a beautiful large map is annoying. Either through screen mirroring or a specific app built for Teslas from Uber would be a great help. This would also improve navigation as the Tesla very rarely loses site of the GPS satelites whereas the phone loses site quite often.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
This shouldn’t be much more than a software update to allow Android (or iPhone) apps to work on the car or to allow screen mirroring.
Moderator: Actually adding app capability or screen mirroring is a nightmare in security and dealing with vehicle regulations. Still we are hopeful Tesla will open the system up to apps.

At specific locations, set air to recirculate based on the GPS position. A bonus would have a pre-known map of odorous locations.
The air quality inside tunnels and specific spots is often bad, and setting the air to recirculate is a common way to reduce the odors.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
Probably just a software updates, no new hardware required.

Description
Have an option to activate Homelink when entering a GPS saved location.
Tesla cannot have a garage door homelink button activated automatically, because the garage may be open for some reason when you get home and start closing on you, but gates such as remote triggered sub-division gates will not close when open when the homelink remote button is pushed.
It would be awesome if when setting up homelink you could select “garage” or “gate” on the screen. Those selected “gate” would automatically activate when you are at the correct GPS location, those labeled “garage” would require you to manually press them as you do now. That way when you get to programmed gates they would automatically be opening as you drive up to them.
Competitive/Pricing/Notes
Price should be minimal with just new software using existing hardware.
Status
Implemented with auto open and close with the 7.1 software release.
