Improved Summon for Garage Parking

Description

Summon is nice but the vehicle has to be carefully positioned before executing forward or reverse or else it won’t go into the garage if it is too close to one edge of the garage door frame, and doesn’t straighten if it was initially oriented at an angle.

Competitive/Pricing/Notes

Ideally the vehicle could learn that it is going into the garage and maneuver around the door frame edges and align itself in a pre-specified position in the garage. Potentially the owner could place a couple of custom Tesla decals along the walls of the garage that the vehicle could use to triangulate the proper positioning. Similar decals could be placed at the door frame edges to help the vehicle know that it is navigating through the garage door frame.

Ideally auto park should be able to park the car in a tight space without the driver, and summon should be able to back the car out of a tight space.

In fact, smart summon just cannot handle tight spaces and stops the car.  No joy but no damage.

With simple summon, if I try to move the car out of a tight space, it seems to try to try to avoid the nearest constraint and in the process has no problem hitting another.  For summon to be really useful, it needs to consider all constraints and navigate the middle ground, no matter how tight.  This is what humans do all the time.

I understand that this is very hard because of the limitations of the fixed sensors.

My garage is a tight fit.  Positioning the Model 3 must be done very carefully.  It would be ideal to have Summon learn the process.

Summon will not move my S into my garage even if it parked lined up with the side I park it on.  It turns away from the garage door frame and gets too close to my other car to get in.
