When using Autopilot, have an option to slow further back from a stoplight or stop sign.

I prefer to slow using regen further back so it has a gradual slowing before stopping for a stoplight or stop sign.
Fast stops are inefficient, and it scares both me and my wife (will it or won’t it stop?) When not using Autopilot, In situations where the lights are visible well ahead, I seldom need to use the actual brake.

Yes!
Regen braking is so well modulated that we know within a foot where the car will stop - brakes are only used once a month to see if they still work!
On a/p as you say it's a matter of faith whether the car in front will be damaged because the late braking is scary.
