Sentry Mode Detection of Camera Obstruction by Thief

Trigger the alarm system immediately if one or more cameras get obstructed while the car surrounding detects movement. Then send the phone notification of alarm because of the camera obstruction with suspicious movement detection.

Now that Tesla rolled out the Sentry Mode to most of its cars, it became known by some that when targeting a Tesla’s they likely will be recorded by its cameras.

To prevent the car to record the action, the burglars can use spray or tapes to block the camera sensors.

This feature could be disabled if the car external temperature is very low when for example snow might obstruct the cameras and other sensors.

Moderator: Yet to hear of such a problem actually occurring. Not sure thieves are that smart, but if so, I’d think they would wear a ski mask and avoid any recording risk.

Answer to the moderator: Someone going around cars in ski mask is easy to spot if not freezing winter.

They are not as dumb as you think, you should look for car thief videos, they know the easiest cars to target, how to steal batteries from Prius in 15 seconds, in Brazil they even know how to disarm the battery to stop alarms, then replace some cable and get the engine running on any GM, that takes about 30s too. And certainly as they learn that Tesla have cameras it’s just a matter of time to walk backwards and quick spray the cameras, it’s cheap fast and doesn’t call attention. However for Tesla is about a day or two of development to prevent that.

Why wear a ski mask in public? A mini spray-paint does the trick on any cam, not just cars. Have some trust in the voting system, it works quite well. Addition: the feature is the simplest ever to implement. Greetings, a programmer.
