Description

This 17″ display is not clear at all. Every street name is gray instead of black and sharpness is about 3 on a scale from 1 to 10. I don’t know if it’s changeable, I think it is. Let me give you an example: Apple MacBook Pro regular and with Retina display. That’s what I am talking about. You can clearly see sharp letters and numbers on the Retina display comparing to a regular display.

Competitive/Pricing/Notes

Some improvement may be possible with a different or higher contrast font. For significant improvement, a higher resolution display would be required.

Status

There have been at least two major revisions of the LCD display since the original Model S.  Each revision offers better contrast and higher resolution.  The mid-year 2021 Model S/X has boosted the display resolution to 2200×1300.

I agree wholeheartedly. The gray-scale map no longer is readable. Needs contrast. Streets are narrow and the street names fit  inside the streets. They are so small they are illegible, especially when driving at 75 mph. What's wrong with using black as the font color? Bring back the old color-map, PLEASE!!

Comes down to the screen's ppi. Newer models I would expect would be higher density in order to support these kinds of issues.
