Offer the center console with matching trims, such as carbon fiber and various woods. A plus would be matching side trim to seat colors.

Evannex has been offering a center console with these options since 2013.
Status
Starting in 2017, Tesla provides matching trim (wood or carbon fiber) on the center console of the Model S and X.

I tried to order the console with my P85D. They said I had to order it separately from the Tesla Service Center and pay separately for it. Ridiculous.
I finally got my matte wood front center console about a month ago. It was a long wait but I'm happy with it. I think Tesla built about 75,000 cars in the time it took them to make my console (I placed my order in 2013), so it is clearly not a priority for them. It should be an option upfront when you buy the car.
