Automatic Ferry Detection

18

Description

Detect when the car is on a ferry, disable the tilt alarm and only use GPS for its location.

Competitive/Pricing/Notes

When the route goes through a car ferry crossing, or when the car is located on the sea, it should automatically:

  • use GPS instead of wheel movement as the primary source for location on the map
  • deactivate the tilt alarm when at sea

Currently, the vehicle thinks it is on the loading side of land during the crossing as the wheels are not turning, and it ignores GPS.

this is true, even on an open-deck ferry. Google data on my phone still works. Not sure how navigation/time to destination and distance are calculated for the battery (it appears to include the distance as if it needs to drive there). It would be useful if it could use the ferry schedule in the calculation. Google may have that data.
