A laser jammers attempt to confuse or overload a speed gun so that it either provides a lower reading or no reading at all. Radar jammers are illegal in the US due to FCC restrictions on electronic emissions. Laser jammers, which are only optical, are illegal in at least the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, and Washington DC.
