Charging Cheat Devices

You may have arrived here after thinking TeslaTap.com makes or sells charging cheat devices. We have never sold or manufactured such devices.  A company recently has used our good name on their cheat device without our permission.  We have been using TeslaTap.com for over 10 years now, and we focus on helping EV owners with advice and technical information.  (May-2022)

Safety

The use of charging cheat devices is not supported by Tesla, nor are they supported by any vehicle manufacturers we know of.  These devices also fail to meet any regulatory or safety standards, such as UL or CSC. Should such a device damage Tesla’s equipment, your vehicle’s internal charger, or battery, the costs are your responsibility. No vehicle warranties or insurance is likely to cover such damage.

Contact

You need to contact the company that sold you the device (not us) and/or the company that manufactured the device (not us) for additional information or help. We do not know the name of the company, and it is likely that they are no longer in business.  If you purchased such a device recently via a credit card, you may be able to reverse the charges.  Contact your credit card company to see if this might be a way to get restitution.

Summary

We are happy to hear you are an EV owner, helping to reduce fossil fuel consumption and pollution, but the use of such cheat devices is stealing power from Tesla and companies providing power to Tesla vehicles. It is even possible you might find your vehicle towed away when parking in a Tesla-only parking space and using a cheat device.  We hope you’ll avoid using such cheat devices for both ethical and safety reasons.
