Steering/Seat auto adjust on exit/entry

285

Now Implemented!

Description

After entering the car, and selecting Drive, the seat and/or steering adjust to the driver’s memory position. When exiting, due to Park and the front driver’s door-opening, the seat moves back and the steering column moves inward and up to provide the easiest exit.

Competitive/Pricing/Notes

This feature is offered standard on a number of luxury cars when equipped with memory seats and an electrically adjustable steering column.

Status

Now available in all vehicles.

Auto steering wheel auto raises/lower and seat adjusts when going into park and the door opens for easy exit.  This feature was added in v2017.44 (Nov-2017).

great idea for anyone

I have an Exit and a Cexit (for Cyndie) but their use requires button pushing on the status bar.  It works OK, sort-of!  What I would really like is for Trigger to automatically go into Exit mode when I am sitting in the drivers seat, pit the car in PARK, AND open the driver side door.  These are all necessary conditions for me exiting.  When I approach the car with key fob #1 in my pocket I want Trigger to present the door handles and move the driver's seat and steering wheel to EXit profile regardless of what else has intervened  because I want to get in comfortably.  I am not sure, however, how to cope with Cyndie's settings or the presence of both key fobs within reception range.  This may have something to do with which key fog is associated with which profile when both are within range, i.e. both in the car.

I sure hope this is clear!

i'v set an exit profile to do the job, a pathetic way to do it in a high priced car, please add the long used feature, so my friends don't laugh at me.

I use the "exit"  and a "driver" profile to adjust steering wheel (and seat, and mirror) by using fob identity followed by driver identity.   Nice.  Would love to add Air Suspension setting to fob profile. Get everything set triggered at the same time as  presenting the door handles.

Lots of things to set/reset between getting in(out) the car and driving the car. Frequently miss some, only to find I'm folded.

Yes! Be FOB-specific!

Another feature that I had on my 2002 Lexus LS430 that I miss and would like to see implemented on my Model S.

I have a 97 Corvette with a very basic computer system that does this flawlessly.  I am 6'1" with 74 year old bad knees.  I had assumed my Tesla would have this function,  I really could use it.  All the hardware is there, the computer is obviously strong enough and a simple program would resolve this issue.  Seems like a no brainer.

This is a VERY useful feature of my Lexus, it makes getting in.out of the car so much easier. Due to the length of my legs (and I'm only average height) where I have my seat and steering wheel makes it very hard to get in or out, so having them move out of the way to give me more room is essential.

I'd find it desirable for the fob to be driver-specific, such that walking up to the car or opening the door would begin the process of making desired adjustments to steering wheel position, driver's seat, temperature setting(s), and even music source. Perhaps the music source could be from the last settings used by the particular driver.

There's great merit in the present system, but I would like easier entry and exit, as some of the other writers pointed out.

On of the features I miss that was on my 2002 Lexus LS430. Unlike Smart Cruise, this one should be retrofittable on my 2014 Model S

I've done a similar profile (Enter/Exit) to get my long legs out from under the steering wheel.  It would be nice if there was a default Enter/Exit profile that was triggered by Park so each person could set it for their needs/preferences.  If they do this, I hope they can get it to work in parallel and not serially.  Right now, each movement is separate; seat back.  seat down.  steering wheel in.  steering wheel up.  takes way too long. It would be nice if all movements worked together for quicker response.

I would prefer door closed and seat belt buckled it lowers.  Door opened and seat belt unbuckled it raises.

Tom P. You could try to train your wife to select your profile when she exits? ;)  Explain the problem to her (she can get in on your settings just fine - you can't on hers), and perhaps find some to compensate her for the inconvenience. (Most girls like flowers‚ some only like precious metals or gems)

It would be very nice if the car could select settings based on which FOB is used for unlocking, or at least have the option to select a programmable EXIT profile on shutdown.

This is a BIG issue for me.  My wife is 5'2".  I am 6'2".  After she has driven I literally cannot get into the driver's seat.  If the button to select which driver were on the door as in most cars, this would be no problem.  But since selecting which driver is on the center display you have to get into the car first in order to be able to reach the center console.  Really poor design as currently implemented.  Good news is that fixing is a trivial, software-only fix.

Also need to speed up the motor in the steering wheel column. Takes forever to go from my driving profile to my exit profile all the way forward

If this was added it would be nice to also be able to adjust the air suspension height. As a tall person I already have the seat all the way back and the steering column up, but need to adjust the air suspension to MAX height to help out on the aging knees....

I get around the lack of this by programming another driver profile called "EXIT" (seat pushed back and steering wheel up) and touch that prior to getting out of the car.  I have to chose my own profile before I start driving again.

It would be nice if it went to that automatically with opening the driver door like on other vehicles.
